Tilak Ram Acharya's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Journalism from Tribhuwan University in 2000, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma (2003), a Master’s degree (2012), and a Ph.D. (2019) in Buddhist Studies.
Tilak commenced his professional career in 2012 as an Assistant Lecturer at Lumbini Buddhist University, where he steadily advanced through academic and administrative ranks. From 2013 to 2016, he served as the in-charge Assistant Campus Chief, and by June 2016, he had become a Lecturer in the Department of Buddhist Studies, specializing in Mahayana, Theravada, Vajrayana, and Applied Buddhism.
He was appointed Registrar of Lumbini Buddhist University for three consecutive terms (2016–2020, 2020–2024, and from June 2024 onward) and twice served as Acting Vice-Chancellor. He also contributes as an Associate Professor and Advisor to Butwal Sub Metropolitan City, underscoring his multifaceted professional engagement.
